TEE-rrific Calgary Golf Classic
September 6, 2007
Redwood Meadows Golf and Country Club

Once again Team coach Resi Mendoza stepped up to the plate to organize and orchestrate a very successful Calgary Golf Classic tournament– a Team tradition, it seems. 124 golfers enjoyed a day of cool but clear weather, an awesome golf course, an excellent lunch and dinner, good golf (at least for some) and lots of camaraderie. Since Culinary Team Alberta is all about food – it is only natural that the meal was special (as always) and that the golfers were well treated after a hard day battling it out on the golf course!! There was slow roasted Alberta beef tenderloin truffle, Haida salmon, fresh mussels – just to name a few of the dishes. Thanks to Team Captain Brad Horen and Team members, Patrick Gayler, Junko Sadahiro and Martin Makulowich for taking such good care of our supporters. To round out the tournament, there were trophies and prizes galore.

We are very grateful to the following sponsors and loyal supporters who ‘step up to the tee box’ for the Team year after year. It is much appreciated.

  • Bert Johnson Enterprises Ltd.
  • Bridge Brand AGFS Canada Company
  • Campbell’s Foodservice
  • Centennial Foodservice
  • City Fish
  • Inform Brokerage Inc.
  • McCain Foods (Canada)
  • Patisserie du Soleil
  • Spolombo’s Fine Foods and Deli
  • Steelite International Canada Limited
  • SYSCO Calgary
  • Vitality Food Service Canada
  • Willow Park Wine and Spirits
  • WOW Factor Desserts

As always, the money raised this year will help cover expenses to send the Team to Germany next year in its bid to win gold at the Culinary Olympics. Preliminary preparations are underway and final Team selection will be made in January.
