Expogast Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg
Culinary Team Alberta won the World Championship over 50 other teams by earning top marks in the four categories of Cookery A&B, Patisserie and Culinary Art. Dishes were judged on presentation, innovation, composition, preparation and arrangement/practical serving.
“We are thrilled about this prestigious title and proud of the effort all team members put in,” says Vinod Varshney, Team Manager. “The competition was fierce with elite chefs from around the world. It’s a great prize to win.“ Under the direction of Vinod Varshney, Culinary Team Alberta is comprised of James Holehouse and Brad Horen of Edmonton and Restituto Mendoza and Max Labhardt of Calgary.
Alberta chefs also won in individual categories at Expogast with Doug Overes of Lethbridge and Matt Batey of Calgary winning gold, and Edmund Liew-on and Emmanuel David of Edmonton winning silver.
Expogast takes place in Luxembourg every four years and is the second largest event of its kind in the world. National, regional, military and youth teams as well as individuals and confectioners compete for highly competitive titles.
